The mythical winged horse, Pegasus, is found within Greek mythology and is arguably one of the most well-known fantasy creatures of ancient lore. Only, is it truly a myth? Because we may, or may not, have spotted one last wee at the 2021 SEMA Show. The Pegasus Project is a small group that came together to support the STARS air ambulance in Saskatchewan. They put together a one-of-a-kind 1968 Ford Mustang 427 Fastback, which has been custom-built and revealed to the world last week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The custom-built 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback build was led by automotive enthusiasts and businessmen Vaughn Wyant and Wayne Halabura. The team includes premiere custom automotive builder Byran Thiessen of Creative Concepts Restorations and has gained the support of numerous suppliers to support the project. In addition, designer Bruce Williams worked with Creative Concepts Restorations to create the unique design and renderings of the Pegasus Mustang.
The Pegasus Project Ford Mustang features a Fully TCI custom coil-over front and rear suspension with a Ford racing 427 cubic inch V8 engine that produces over 500 horsepower, paired with a Tremec TKO600 Manual transmission. And just peep those velocity stacks affixed atop of the engine real quick. More of this, please.
While the velocity stacks handle the induction, a Borla fuel injection and exhaust system have been added under the vehicle for an optimized soundtrack. The front and rear facia has been crafted by hand-made sheet metal, while custom sheet metal comprises the hood, deck lid, front and rear spoilers. One-off custom tail lights finish off the rear while Re Radius/stitched wheel well openings lead to one-off billet wheels with Wilwood 13 inch disc brakes at the front and back, which help bring the 1968 Mustang to a stop. The vehicle’s interior is entirely custom which finishes off this completely one-of-a-kind Pegasus Mustang.
Beyond the 2021 SEMA Show, the Pegasus Project Mustang will be featured as a charitable auction vehicle at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, in January 2022. Every dollar the car is sold for will go to Saskatchewan to support the STARS air ambulance.
Note* Industrial Machine & Mfg. Inc. custom designed and manufactured the rims, the grille and the center caps. We are honoured to be apart of this project that gives back to so many.
